Mesotherapy/LipoShape
|
|
Mesotherapy is a safe and effective alternative to surgical
liposuction.

Pioneered in France in 1952 by Dr. Michel Pistor,
Mesotherapy did not arrive in the United
States until 2002. It is based on
the simple principle of delivering conventional and/or homeopathic
medication and vitamins directly into the mesoderm (middle layer of skin).
In 2004, the German equivalent to the FDA has deemed Mesotherapy safe and
effective. General anesthesia and post-operative recovery times are
eliminated and so are unsightly unevenness and dents that may be caused by
surgical liposuction.
Our
personal mean EMC numbers after 5 or more treatments are:
Full Abdomen: 5 1/2"
Arms: 2 1/4"
Thighs: 4 1/4"
Buttocks: 2 1/4"

How is Mesotherapy performed?
Mesotherapy
consists of multiple injections with a very fine needle. The area is first
treated with an anesthetic lotion, therefore the procedure is virtually
painless. The number of treatments vary according to the patient. We recommend
between 5-15 per area.
What are the advantages of Mesotherapy?
Mesotherapy is a
non-surgical with little or no down time with generally no systemic side
effects. It does not require a general anesthesia and can even be done on
a lunch break. There is no risk of dimpling, scarring, rippling, or denting.
With mesotherapy you can lose up to 4-6 inches per area. So far, the highest
inch loss was collective around an abdomen and totaled 15.5 inches. Mesotherapy
can also be used to treat many different areas.
What are the side effects of Mesotherapy?
Mesotherapy has generally
no side effects. Bruising, redness, itching or burning sensations and tenderness
in varied degrees may occur. As with all medical procedures where the skin
integrity is compromised the possibility of infection exists. By following the
set preventive guidelines the risk of infection is minimized. We have performed
over 1500 procedures without complications or infections.
Does Mesotherapy Replace Liposuction?
In many cases Mesotherapy offers an alternative to even the safest form of
liposuction. Mesotherapy is a non-invasive alternative supported by a 1994-95
study on "topical fat reduction" by UCLA researchers. This study concluded women
who had Mesotherapy injections lost weight even without diet or exercise.
Mesotherapy has no deaths. The major concern with Mesotherapy are bruising,
swelling, transient nodules and post inflammatory hyperpigmentation (dark
shadows from bruising that may last several month).
Who is a Candidate for Mesotherapy?
Generally, most healthy adults. If
you are pregnant, on blood thinners, an insulin dependent diabetic, have
a history of blood clots or strokes, are an organ transplant recipient
or HIV positive, Mesotherapy may not be a choice.
